Silent Ice, Raging Fire (Part I)

Afternoon folks…

I’ve got a little series coming up that I’d like to share. It isn’t a blog on a specific subject, but one of my own writings that I thought I’d toss out there. Maybe let you all get a feel for it, and even toss around some editorial comments.

The story is called “Silent Ice, Raging Fire.” It is a compilation of the life of my World of Warcraft Paladin, between the expansions of Wrath of the Lich King and the Cataclysm. It has a couple of twists and turns, and even a little love story attached.

It is a pretty rough draft. I’ve only gone over it a couple times, and made changes here and there, but haven’t really proofread it fully yet. I’m pretty sure that the chronology should be in place, but any comments are welcome.

We’ll start it, after the break…

Bloody hell… and airships.

I feel so left out 😦

Patch 3.3.3 dropped yesterday, and everybody was in a tizzy about some of the new stuff.  But I didn’t see any of it; well, at least not yet.  While downloading the patch yesterday afternoon after work, the updater tool suddenly brings up a lovely error code, noting that there is a mismatched hex code address for one of the Northrend map files… hooray, it’s broke.  So, like the last time I had trouble with an update, I hit the repair button, and let it do it’s thing.  Now, after installing WotLK, it did come up with some errors, but after a little bit of tweeking, and copying from another installation, I got it working on my main PC.

Only problem, there are now just too many corrupted files, that I’ve got to reinstall…. All of it… every patch, every expansion… ugh, looks like it’s going to be a long night.

On the bright side, I do have nearly every patch saved somewhere on my HDD, so I shouldn’t have to download anything… shouldn’t.

So, until then, posts about WoW may be a bit slow.

In other news, a friend of mine (well I consider her a friend 😀 ) is opening up “Beta” readings for her novel.  That’s awesome!  Just in case I’m not going to mention the name or novel title, simply cause she’s nervous enough as it is. I hope to get a chance to take a look at it myself, and have already read the prologue, and was really itching for more.

It kind of inspired me to maybe actually begin posting parts of my NaNoWriMo project from last year.  I believe that I got nearly 17 chapters into it.  It revealed the true geek in me, since it was basically 17 chapters of the backstory of my main character in WoW.  We’ll see how that goes. Maybe ya’ll can look forward to reading some of my handywork, whether it be any good or not 😉

NaNoWriMo

Well, I just got my email from the folks at the National Write a Novel Month. I’ve actually been brainstorming a story before dealing with how my Paladin got to where he is today, and I’m not even on an RP server.

So, over the next few weeks, starting November, I’ll start posting some parts of the story. Ya, it’s a little nerve racking for anybody to be reading something I wrote, but it’s not personal, so heck, why not throw it out to the wolves, and see how it tastes.

Let me know how it sound to you folks….. well, that’s if anybody reads this, haha.
